Web Madness!

I like this beer company. They put out a fine product and I love the style of artwork that's on the boxes and labels. However, their website seems a little lackluster. Maybe I can spruce it up a bit.

Costumes Costumes Costumes

So for the first time EVER I made a Halloween costume. Probably spent close to a month on it. I think it turned out pretty good for being put together by a novice. Here's some pictures:
OOOOH. Phrotoshorped!

The Sentient

So I made this poster on a whim. The band "The Agonist" released an album a number of years ago and one of the songs on it is called "The Sentient" and essentially it's about human development consuming and destroying the planet. For some reason it really speaks to me. Whelp, here's the poster. It's grungy.

Ye Olde Horror Film

So after winning a blue ribbon at the county fair for my "Cirque Extraordinaires" poster, I decided to take a stab at an actual judged art show. So, I will be submitting 3 posters: The original Cirque poster, A old style monster movie poster, and an art deco type poster.

This is the old monster movie poster. A friend of mine runs a house of oddities in Pittsburgh PA, called Trundel Manor. (They were featured on "Extreme Cribs" on MTV. How cool is that???)  Anyway, he's throwing a Halloween party and I decided to use that as my subject matter for this poster. I hope he likes it... 'cause he probably doesn't know about it yet.

Anydangway, here's the final poster. Hope ye like.

Blood Sweat and Beers 3: Take me out to the Blernsball Game!

Here's a little combo move for you all: I've got the final two seasonal labels for my beer, AND a T-Shirt design I made on the fly. I have about a million other T-shirt design ideas I have yet to do, but logos and symbols like this that require minimal drawing can be pumped out in about an hour or two. All the hand drawn ones which are penciled, inked, scanned, colored, and given alpha channels so they sit seamlessly on the shirt can take 8 or more hours to complete. (Especially when it comes to drawing vehicles!) They'll get done. At some point they WILL get done.

Also, for the ones I HAVE gotten done: BAM! All online and ALL for sale! Jolly good show!

Super Seasonals!

TOTALLY a Futurama reference for all those fans out there!

Judge, Jury, and Executioner

This is a joke certificate I made that pretty much says that I'm right about everything. I'm not, actually... but it's still nice to have an official looking certificate. If anyone else would like a fake, official looking certificate of their very own, let me know.

Cirque Extraordinaires!

Here's a little something something I have been working on to display at the local country fair that will be going on labor day weekend. I'm hoping my French is correct.

Blood Sweat and Beers 2

Revival at last! The first two of FOUR seasonal beer labels I'll be making. Also I have plans to make a poster to enter in the county fair art show/contest thingy. Apparently there's a digital art category. Interesting stuff. Interesting stuff.

Anyway, here's the labels I made for my made up 512 Beer's Summer and Winter seasonal specials.

Everybody Comes to Peabody's 2

Happy Independence Day! Okay now that that's over with, if you scroll down a bit you'll see I did an image for a band called Epica at some point in the past. The image was for sale at the concert and it did in fact sell. Happy times. However that wasn't the image I truly wanted to make. It was the image that was picked out of the concepts I submitted. Now I have no regrets or hard feelings toward the original image. in fact I like it. However, I like this concept better. After all, I'm really into art nouveau.

I spent about 19 hours in Adobe Illustrator making this. Enjoy!

FINAL:

 PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH:

1. Initial Concept

2. Pencils

3. Background 1 (I made some changes from the concept)

4. Background 2 (Mostly done. Text and colors were matched from the first one.)

5. I've digitally inked the lines of the girl, all the arms and the skull and added flat colors.

6. Simple shadows are added to the girl. I'll eventually do the same thing to the Skull and the Flowers

7. After finishing all the colors and shadows, I added a little extra pizzazz to the background... but the color of the flowers is still a little too bright. For the final piece I toned them down.

Far too many characters

Yep, it's true. There are FAR too many characters here.... and I haven't even finished coloring them. Also, these aren't ALL the characters. I think I have about 40 or so more to go that I haven't drawn yet. Enjoy!

The main cast. oooooh. aaaaaaaaaaah.

Logos, Thoughts, and the New Year

Happy New year! Just in time for February! Simply fantastic. Somehow I think I've said this somewhere before but it's been far too long since I've updated this thing. So much has happened since that faithful November day when last I graced the blog-o-sphere. Well, not really. Christmas and New Years were uneventful in many ways. I suppose that could be a good thing; wouldn't want any unnecessary drama or happenstance to be occurring around the holiday season. Just ruins the festivity. Then the new year came and all the Christmas stuff came down and suddenly the winter season lost every bit of magic it had. Siiiiiiiiiiigh. As the second month of the year approaches and the snow continues to fall, all I can do is what I do every year: drive with caution and hold out until spring. ...Whenever that is. In theory it's supposed to begin in late March, but this is Cleveland and it might not happen until May. Makes me want to move to California or something. One day, I suppose.

Well, the last two months were not completely unproductive either. I've updated the website (www.schulore.com) and made some new arts. I'll share them sporadically as the weeks go by. Now is a combination of various logos I've made for myself. 'Till next time!

Do the logos get taller or is it just me?
